Remembering
Rodney remembers life in his eyes, dancing like a flame in the early morning light as they sat up, watching the fire burn out.
Rodney remembers life's flame fading in and out till it was gone completely, an empty vessel left behind and nothing more.
Rodney remembers the last moments of peace. Sitting beside him just a little to close watching the flames of the fire dance across his face as the sun rose. A companionable silence over them as the fire crackled.
Rodney remembers nothing but the life gone; hallow eyes staring at him as blood seeped through fingers.
